The Japanese coast guard has turned away more than 300 North Korean vessels attempting to fish in its waters since May, reports NHK, Japan’s national broadcaster. The illegal fishing boats have been operating in the Yamatoi fishing zone off of Japan’s northern coast in recent years. The area is known for its significant squid population.
