The U.S. Coast Guard has had to increase its patrols in the Florida Strait because of a significant increase in the number of Cuban migrants headed to the U.S., reports the Sun Sentinel (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.).
The numbers have jumped 117 percent since December 2013.
