The Taiwanese coast guard has requested approval from the Interior Ministry to spend US$52.8 million for ship-based unmanned aircraft optimized for surveillance missions, reports the Taipei Times.
If approved, the service plans to buy 30 unmanned helicopters over five years, which would be used for maritime law enforcement missions, said an unnamed coast guard official.
