Coast Guard Orders New Cutter From Northrop

The U.S. Coast Guard has awarded Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding a $480 million contract to build a new national security cutter (NSC), the Navy Times reports.

The future USCGC Hamilton (WMSL-753) will be the fourth NSC.

Northrop's Ingalls shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss., has already delivered two cutters and is currently constructing the Stratton, which is now 65 percent complete and due in the second half of 2011.
