Coast Guard, Navy Work Together In Disaster-Relief Scenario

The South Korean coast guard and navy have just held a joint disaster-relief exercise in the Sea of Japan, reports the Yonhap news agency (Seoul).
The drill on Wednesday was designed to improve the maritime services' ability to prevent a disaster similar to last year's loss of a passenger ferry, which resulted in the deaths of more than 300 people.
The navy created three special rescue units earlier this month as part of an effort to improve its rapid-response capabilities. ...
