Coast Guard Beefed Up With 2 New Vessels

Two new patrol vessels have officially joined the coast guard in Taiwan during a ceremony in Kaohsiung, reports Taiwan Today.
The ships were designed and built locally as part of an eight-year coast guard program.
The 2,000-ton Tainan is expected to operate as far out as the Dongsha and Nansha islands in the South China Sea, while the 1,000-ton No. 7, will patrol the Indian and North Pacific oceans, according to coast guard officials.
