Coast Guard Base Assisted By Dutch, U.S. Sailors

Visiting U.S. and Dutch sailors are helping rebuild the Liberian coast guard as part of the Africa Partnership Station (APS) program, reports the Navy NewsStand.

The current APS vessel, Dutch amphibious ship Johan de Witt (L-801), and a team of 20 American Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 3 in Rota, Spain, are rebuilding parts of a Liberian coast guard base.

The base was destroyed during that nation's civil war, which ended in 2003.
