Ninety-two nations signed the Convention on Cluster Munitions on Wednesday with a handful more expected to sign it on Thursday, Defense News reports.
The convention calls for the ban of all cluster munitions, which often fail to explode.
Approximately 100,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed or maimed by unexploded cluster bomblets since 1965, more than a quarter of them children, according to campaign group Handicap International.
