The United States says it is stepping up sanctions against North Korea following the sinking of a South Korean warship in March, the Indo-Asian News Service reports.
The measures are directed at Pyongyang's arms sales and purchases, said Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, seek to limit imports of luxury goods.
The new sanctions are part of the efforts intended to prevent nuclear proliferation by North Korea, said Clinton.
