Clapper Backed By Gates For Director Of Intelligence

Former Air Force Lt. Gen. James Clapper has been named as director of national intelligence.
Clapper is currently undersecretary of defense for intelligence and the director of defense intelligence, reports Agence France-Presse.
Defense Secretary Robert Gates has praised President Obama's nomination for the new director of national intelligence.
Clapper is expected to succeed Adm. Dennis Blair, who quit last month after a string of security lapses.
