Civilian Patrol Ship Heads To Tense Region

China says a maritime patrol vessel has been sent to the disputed South China Sea, Agence France-Presse reports.
A Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Thursday that the Haixun 31, a Maritime Safety Administration of Guangdong ship, departed Wednesday to Singapore for a regular visit.
The Haixun 31, a civilian vessel, is outfitted with a helicopter and is said to be able to stay at sea for 40 days.
