Arab and U.S. intelligence officials say CIA operatives in southern Turkey have been directing arms to Syrian opposition fighters, reports the New York Times.
The weapons in question -- including automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, ammunition and anti-tank weapons -- are being smuggled via a network of intermediaries, including Syria's Muslim Brotherhood, said the officials.
The arms are being paid for by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the officials said.
