The Chinese government is selling weapons throughout Southeast Asia and moving to challenge the United States in the region, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Japan), citing experts and government officials.
Chinese weapons are known to be relatively inexpensive and often come with few restrictions. Those nations buying weapons simultaneously boost their military capabilities and expand economic ties with Beijing, analysts said.
