A Chinese ship has rammed and sunk a Vietnamese fishing vessel in the South China Sea, reports Deutsche Presse-Agentur.
On Thursday, the Chinese boat rammed the Vietnamese vessel near the disputed Paracel Islands, detaining the eight crewmembers, said a local official from Vietnam's Quang Ngai province, which has authority over the islands.
Two Vietnamese ships that attempted to rescue the fishermen were also detained, he said.
