January 20 2011

USA

The top enlisted man on a U.S. nuclear fast attack submarine has been fired, the Navy Times reports.

Senior Chief Yeoman (SS) Savan Patel, 32, a 14-year veteran, was relieved of duty on the USS Louisville earlier this month, said a Submarine Force Pacific spokeswoman.

The sub's commanding officer, Cmdr. Lee Sisco, cited a loss of confidence in Patel's ability to serve in that capacity.

No further details were given.
