Changes In Works For Aid Programs In Burma Following Coup

The Japanese government is considering halting new aid programs in Burma following the coup earlier this month, reports the Kyodo news agency (Tokyo).

Sources said on Thursday that humanitarian aid delivered by international organizations and non-governmental organizations would continue, particularly aid designated to help fight the spread of COVID-19.

Much of the US$1.8 billion in Japanese aid to Burma could be reduced or eliminated.
