Casualties Mount As Offensive Continues

Sri Lanka's army says it has captured more territory from the Tamil Tigers as it advances towards the rebel "capital" of Kilinochi, the Irish Times reports. Though hampered by monsoon rains, government troops said they were able to inflict several rebel casualties in the Wanni region adjacent to Kilinochi, a Defense Ministry spokesman said.
