Carrier Refloated In Russian Shipyard

After three years in drydock, a former Russian aircraft carrier sold to India has been refloated, reports Defense News.

The former Admiral Gorshkov, now known as the Vikramaditya, has been undergoing conversion in drydock since December of 2005.

The vessel is being refitted for the Indian navy.

Originally designed in 1987 to operate helicopters and vertical-takeoff-and-landing aircraft, Sevmash shipyard is rebuilding the vessel to be a more conventional aircraft carrier. ...
