As Canada winds down its Afghan operations, it has started to hand control of the Panjwaii district in the southern Kandahar province to U.S. troops, reports CTV News.
The Royal 22 Regiment, the Van Doos, has patrolled the war-torn region since 2006, and will soon transfer responsibility for the district.
Nearly 2,800 Canadian troops in Afghanistan are scheduled to end combat operations by the end of July.
