The Thai Cabinet has cleared the second of three planned purchases of tanks from China, reports the Bangkok Post.
On Tuesday, the Cabinet approved the purchase of 10 more Chinese VT-4 tanks worth US$58 million, said Defense Minister Prawit Wongsuwan, as reported by Reuters.
The Thai army has plans for a full battalion of 49 tanks; 28 were ordered last year. Another deal for the remaining 11 vehicles is expected to follow, he said.
