The Cabinet has approved the continuing deployment of German forces to Afghanistan, reports Reuters.
The mission, with up to 980 German troops, will continue its advising and training role for Afghan security forces, said a government spokesman on Wednesday, following the Cabinet's approval.
Germany heads the NATO-led Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan's north; its troops are stationed on the outskirts of Mazar-i-Sharif and in Kabul, the capital.
