Cabinet Confirms Galant As Chief Of Staff

The Cabinet has confirmed Maj. Gen. Yoav Galant as Israel's next military chief of staff, Press TV (Iran) reports.

Galant is expected to take over from Lt. Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi in February.

Galant, currently in charge of the IDF's Southern Command, led the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip from December 2008 to January 2009, noted Ha'aretz (Israel).
