Cabinet Approves 18-Mile Fence Along Border With Jordan

The Israeli Cabinet has approved a plan to build a fortified fence along the border with Jordan, reports Reuters.

On Sunday, the security Cabinet approved a new 30-km (18-mi) stretch of fence that will run northward from the southern resort of Eliat along the Jordanian border.

The fence will protect a new Israeli airport at Tinma, 19 km (12 mi) from Eliat that is expected to be opened next year. The airport could potentially be used as a military air base if the Ben-Gurion...
