C-27J Squadron Deactivates At Kandahar Airfield

A U.S. Air Force transport squadron in Afghanistan has just stood down, reports the Air Force News Service.

The 702nd Expeditionary Airlift Squadron based at Kandahar Airfield, which was primarily manned by airmen from the Maryland Air National Guard, operated two C-27J Spartan light cargo aircraft.

A ceremony on Monday marked the deactivation of the unit.
