The head of Russia's naval infantry says his personnel will soon be equipped with life jackets that double as body armor, RIA Novosti reports.
The vest offers full protection against light weapons and can easily support the wearer, his weapons and ammunition in the water, said Maj. Gen. Alexander Kolpachenko.
The gear is designed for use by naval infantry and seamen on combat ships.
