Bulava Missile Now In Unofficial Service, Says Navy Chief

The head of the Russian navy says the Bulava submarine-launched ballistic missile is in all but official service, reports RIA Novosti.

Only paperwork signing needs to be completed for the missile to formally be declared operational, said Vice Adm. Viktor Chirkov.

The three-stage Bulava missile can carry up to 10 multiple independently targeted re-entry vehicles (MIRVs) and has a range of more than 5,000 miles (8,000 km), says the navy.
