Ukraine has begun the first phase of sea trials in the Black Sea for its only submarine, reports the Ukrainian News Agency.
On Thursday, the Zhaporozye, a Soviet-era Foxtrot-class submarine, left the shipyard in Sevastopol this week, according to a Defense Ministry release.
The boat, built in 1970, has been under repairs since 1991.
The tests will focus on the diesel-electric submarine's engines, said officials.
