Philippine soldiers have killed a member of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) during an operation in the southern Sulu province, reports the Philippine Daily Inquirer.
On Tuesday, soldiers from the 41st Infantry Battalion were conducting an operation near Patikul when they encountered about 40 suspected militants, said a spokesman for the Western Mindanao Command.
Three soldiers were wounded in the 20-minute gun battle, he said.
