Senior British officials say that British-trained Afghan National Police in the southern Helmand province are showing improved performance, reports the U.K. Ministry of Defense.
The Afghan officers are becoming increasingly independent and professional, partly due to training provided at the British-run Helmand Police Training Center in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand, said civilian and military officials at a Whitehall press conference this week.
