British troops launched helicopter raids on Thursday in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province to prepare the battlefield for a major NATO operation, Reuters reports.
British and Afghan soldiers are carrying out "shaping operations" on the outskirts of Marjah in the Nad Ali district, according to the U.K. Ministry of Defense.
U.S. Marines have publicly declared their intentions to seize Marjah, a major Taliban stronghold and the last bastion of insurgent power in Helmand. ...
