Britain Planning Maritime Mission In The Face Of Iran's 'State Piracy'

The United Kingdom is planning a European-led mission to protect maritime navigation in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, reports the Guardian (U.K.).

The initiative would target "illegal acts of state piracy by Iran," Foreign Minister Jeremy Hunt told the House of Commons on Monday, reported Agence Frace-Presse. 

Any British efforts to ensure maritime security would be separate and apart from the U.S. maximum pressure campaign on Iran, said Hunt.
