Indian defense scientists say the successful Sunday test-firing of the BrahMos cruise missile set a world record, the Times of India reports.
The BrahMos flew in a steep dive at nearly three times the speed of sound, representing the first time a cruise missile has flown a supersonic dive, the test-range scientists said.
The Block II variant of the missile was used in the test, which took place at Chandipur off the Orissa coast.
