China put some of its bomber fleet on high alert on Wednesday, likely responding to a potential situation in North Korea, say U.S. defense officials cited by CNN.
Many were brought to full readiness status, said officials on Thursday.
There have been various explanations offered as why the status was elevated.
The moves are part of an effort to "reduce the time to react to a North Korean contingency," said one official.
