Bomb Explodes Near MI5 Base In N. Ireland

The Real IRA has claimed responsibility for a car bomb that exploded early Monday near the MI5 headquarters in Northern Ireland, the Daily Telegraph (U.K.) reports.

The explosion took place shortly after midnight behind the Palace Barracks in Holywood, County Down, in the neighborhood of the regional HQ of the intelligence service, said officials.

No serious casualties were reported in the blast. Nearby homes were reportedly evacuated as a precaution.
