Drug-related violence in Mexico has hit a new level.
Official government statistics show there were more homicides recorded in June than in any month in at least two decades, reports the Los Angeles Times.
Prosecutors opened 2,234 homicide investigations last month, a 40 percent increase over June 2016 and 80 percent more than June 2015, the statistics reveal.
