The Russian Black Sea Fleet has kept its warships mostly in port since a Ukrainian attack with uncrewed vehicles last month, reports USNI News.
The Ukrainian assault on Oct. 29 involved uncrewed surface vessels (USV) armed with explosives and aerial drones and targeted Russian warships in Sevastopol in occupied Crimea.
Following the attack, two Admiral Grigorovich-class frigates have been mostly kept in port and defensive arrangements have been increased. The Admiral Makarov is believed to have been damaged in the Ukrainian strikes.
In addition, Russian navy vessels appear to have replaced lighter Federal Security Service (FSB) boats in patrols in the area, according to ship spotters.
It was not immediately clear how long the heightened alert might last, analysts said, noting that the Russian navy has been operating continuously since Moscow launched its unprovoked invasion in February.
