The governments of Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands have decided to significantly increase their joint military capabilities, reports the Netherlands Information Service.
A joint statement was planned for Thursday's NATO meeting in Brussels.
The so-called Northern Group within NATO can jointly train paratroops, air force and acquire common equipment, said Dutch Defense Minister Hans Hillen.
The result will be a largely merged Benelux army, he said.
