Bath Iron Works Gets More Destroyer Business

The U.S. Navy has awarded General Dynamics Bath Iron Works of Maine a contract for advance work on the last two destroyers of the Zumwalt class, reports the Dept. of Defense.

The $105 million contract covers long-lead time construction for DDG-1001; long-lead time materials for DDG-1002; and engineering and production support services.

Work under the new contract is scheduled to be completed by February 2011.

The Naval Sea Systems Command is the contracting authority. ...
