Base Transfers Proceed To Local Forces

United States Division-South (USD-S) has recently completed the transfers of several bases to the government of Iraq, the Army News Service reports.

The 1st Infantry Division has handed over 10 locations since taking command of USD-S, Army officials said. Seventy-nine bases in southern Iraq have closed since January 2008.
