The Iraqi army is restoring cellphone service in Mosul in northern Iraq as part of its efforts to retake the city from the Islamic State, reports the Wall Street Journal.

In 2014, ISIS cut off cellular service to the city, the second-largest in the nation.

Semi-trucks carrying portable cell phone towers are rolling in just behind front-line Iraqi and Kurdish units, while technicians are repairing towers that were damaged by the militants, say officials.
