Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called for a revised mandate, including a troop reduction, for the U.N. mission in Chad and the Central African Republic (MINURCAT), reports the U.N. News Service.
The Chadian government has sought the withdrawal of military peacekeepers, saying the force was no longer needed after it signed new accords on border security with Sudan. The current mandate is due to expire on May 15.
