The United Nations General Assembly has elected Ban Ki-moon to serve a second five-year term as secretary-general of the world body, the BBC reports.
The 67-year-old former South Korean foreign minister ran unopposed after the assembly unanimously recommended he stay in office. He announced his candidacy two weeks ago.
His election was considered a certainty after the Security Council recommended last week that he stay in office, reported Reuters.
