The army is converting a controversial base in Pakistan's southwestern Baluchistan province into a military college, reports the Press Trust of India.
The military college was inaugurated on Monday in Sui by Gen. Ashfaq Parvaiz Kayani, the army chief.
Kayani also announced plans to recruit 10,000 Baluch youths into the army.
Former army chief and President Pervaiz Musharraf built the cantonment in the Dera Bugti district despite opposition from Baluch and Pashtun groups.
