Kurmanbek Bakiyev, the deposed president of Kyrgyzstan, left the country Thursday for neighboring Kazakhstan, ending a week-long standoff with the interim government, the Financial Times (U.K.) reports.
Bakiyev fled Bishkek last week when the opposition took control of the capital.
He tried to muster support in the country's south, but a rally was cut short when rival groups clashed. A few hours later, the interim government declared Bakiyev's presidency at an end.
