BAE Systems Bofors Expands Defense Manufacturing Through Acquisition

On May 20, 2026, BAE Systems announced that Bofors has officially completed its acquisition of Aston Harald Mekaniska Verkstad AB, a Swedish company specializing in precision mechanics and advanced component machining for defense, aerospace, and commercial industries.

The acquisition will support production for several advanced military systems, including the ARCHER Mobile Howitzer, TRIDON Mk2, Combat Vehicle 9040, and naval gun systems 40 Mk4 and 57 Mk3.
