Eight members of a pro-government Sunni militia were killed Thursday morning in an attack in Iraq's eastern province of Diyala, bordering Iran, Al Jazeera (Qatar) reports.
Suspected Al-Qaida militants attacked the local Awakening Council office in the village of Shereen in Muqdadiya, said security officials.
Most of the victims were said to have been killed while still asleep.
