British authorities have re-arrested a jihadist Muslim cleric in a renewed bid to deport him to Jordan, reports the Daily Telegraph (U.K.).
Abu Qatada was granted bail in February after European Court of Human Rights said he should not be sent to Jordan because he might be tried with evidence obtained by torture.
Qatada was arrested on Tuesday. Home Secretary Theresa May said she had received sufficient assurances from Jordan to allow for his deportation.
