Australian, New Zealand Ready To Provide Aid

The Australian and New Zealand navies have taken steps to provide assistance to Tonga following the eruption of an underwater volcano on Jan. 15, reports USNI News.
The New Zealand navy offshore patrol ship Wellington and replenishment ship Aotearoa departed on Monday and were scheduled to reach Tonga on Friday. The ships were sent before the Tongan government had formally requested aid so that they could rapidly respond should the assistance be sought.
