Austal Blames LCS Corrosion Problems On Maintenance

An Alabama-based Australian shipbuilder has blamed corrosion issues with Independence-class littoral combat ships on poor maintenance, reports the Sydney Morning Herald.
The U.S. Navy discovered "aggressive corrosion" onboard the propulsion areas of USS Independence (LCS-2), reported Bloomberg News last week.
The ship is built by the Mobile-based subsidiary of Australia's Austal company and General Dynamics.
