Defense Minister John Faulkner has set out a possible timeline for a withdrawal of Australian troops from Afghanistan, saying it could begin within two years depending on the progress of it mission to train local forces, ABC News (Australia) reports.
The Australian military believes it could adequately train Afghan forces in Uruzgan province by then, allowing some Australian troops to return home, said the minister.
